Epoch Life Science currently provides two types of nucleic acid purification kits:
Nucleic acid purification is a fundamental step in molecular biology research, and is essential for a variety of downstream applications such as PCR, cloning, sequencing, and gene expression analysis. Two commonly used methods for nucleic acid purification are DEAE anion exchange and silica membrane-based purification.
DEAE anion exchange is a chromatography-based method that uses a positively charged resin to selectively bind negatively charged nucleic acids. The sample is loaded onto the resin and the nucleic acids are selectively bound while impurities are washed away with a series of buffers. The nucleic acids are then eluted from the resin with a high salt buffer, disrupting the interaction between the nucleic acids and the resin and resulting in highly purified DNA/RNA. DEAE anion exchange purification is a versatile method that can be used for purification of plasmid DNA, genomic DNA, and RNA from various sources.
Silica membrane-based purification is another widely used method for nucleic acid purification. It relies on silica membranes to selectively bind nucleic acids while contaminants are washed away. The sample is loaded onto the membrane and the nucleic acids are selectively bound while impurities are washed away with a series of buffers. The nucleic acids are then eluted from the membrane with a low salt buffer or water, resulting in highly purified DNA/RNA. Silica membrane-based purification is a fast and efficient method that can be used for high-throughput applications.
Both DEAE anion exchange and silica membrane-based purification methods are effective for purifying DNA/RNA from various sources. The choice of method may depend on the specific application, the quality of the starting material, and the level of purification required. By understanding the principles and applications of these purification methods, researchers can choose the most appropriate method for their particular experimental needs.
DEAE column produces transfection grade DNA while silica membrane column provides faster and economical alternative for everyday use.
All kits come with buffer sets as well as enzymes necessary for the intended procedure.
Both our DEAE column and silica membrane column can also be separately purchased, they are compatible with buffer sets from most other companies as well as home brewed buffers.
Binding capacities of our columns are comparable if not much better than other well-known brands.
